Dressing for the Weather ~
Now that the weather is getting colder, please make sure your child is dressed appropriately for the weather.  We go outside every day for recess.  It is important for all students to have warm jackets, hats and mittens each day!
During the winter months, students only stay inside if the temperature or wind chill is -10 or more.
When we get snow, it is a good idea for your child to wear boots and snow pants.
Please label your child's items - we have already had instances where students grabbed the wrong jacket!

FREE BREAKFAST FOR KINDERGARTNERS.   This year at Castle all Kindergarten students are eligible for free breakfast.  It is still a choice as to whether or not they would like breakfast but if they do it is FREE.  Breakfast starts at 8:25 and students are let in the school at that time.  Once students arrive off the bus they come into school and get right in line for breakfast.  If they are not having breakfast they will line up outside in their respective grade lines.

Welcome

Welcome to Castle Elementary School where all staff work collaboratively to prepare our students to be lifelong learners and leaders in our school community and beyond.  I am honored to be your principal and could not be more thrilled for another amazing school year!!!

Our incredibly talented staff shares the collective vision that we are all equipped, inspired and committed to improving our world.  Through our core values:  Accountability, Community, Courage, Embracing Individuality, Integrity, Respect, and Trust, we strive to promote accountability and collaboration for allstakeholders.  We have high expectationsfor our students and believe it is important for children to be active participants in their education and learn to be accountable for their actions from an early age.

For those new to Castle Elementary School, we are a neighborhood school with nearly 500 students K-5th grade learners.  We have a strong focus in literacy, mathematics, social studies and science.  We also offer a variety of programs meeting student interests and learning needs, which include, Vocal Music, Physical Education and STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering and Math), Special Education, Sail (Gifted and Talented), Young Scholars, Choir, English Learners and Title One.  We believe technology enhances student learning and all classrooms are equipped with SMARTboards to engage students and build on technology skills.

Castle staff and families work in partnership to provide excellent learning opportunities for our students.  Our classrooms are structured around the components of Responsive Classroom, which includes the belief that academic learning happens best within a positive school context. We also take a positive approach to our behavior intervention to ensure all students feel connected to the community and succeed at Castle.

We strongly believe in a partnership with our Castle Families.  Each of you brings a strength which will benefit our learning community. We look forward to our continued partnership.  Families are valued partners and are encouraged to visit our school, consult with staff and participate in school functions.

Thank you for entrusting us with your children and partnering with us to ensure the best educational opportunities for all learners.
