Tartan National Honor Society
2013-2014 NHS is in full swing!
If you have any questions about our organization, please see one of the student officers, advisors or email the group at email@example.com.
Note from the Advisors:
Tartan’s National Honor Society began when Tartan first opened its doors in February of 1971. This organization, 43 years later, is still a strong chapter at Tartan and within our communities. NHS is dedicated to promoting the qualities of leadership, scholarship, service, and character.
The 2012-2013 year was an exciting and busy year for the Tartan NHS chapter. This group of students performed many volunteer services throughout the community. By the end of 2nd trimester of this year, the current members had volunteered well over 3,500 hours. THAT IS AWESOME! They performed services in many areas: provided water to runners at Mile 13 at the 2011 Twin Cities Marathon in October & at the 100% Irish for a Day run in March, mentored small youth groups at the Kindness and Courage Retreats at Skyview, assisted with parent/teacher conferences, played bingo with senior citizens at Oak Meadows, hosted a Sweetheart Dance for 150 senior citizens at Gladstone Community Center, helped with concessions at athletic events, tutored elementary students at local elementary schools, helped at local carnivals, supported youth groups in faith and athletic organizations, to name only a few. In addition, this ceremony and reception tonight is also organized and put on by the NHS members.
As you can clearly see, this is a busy and amazing group of young men and women! In addition to their volunteer service hours, these students maintain commendable grades and a GPA of or above 3.6, hold jobs, and participate in countless extra-curricular activities. These students lead by example how to be self-motivated, giving, and proud of their school and community. Tartan and our community have benefited from this group of future global leaders!
We look forward to the 2013-2014 school year with the same excitement & anticipation we have had in years past. This year is extra exciting for us as this is the largest NHS group in Tartan history - 125 members. We know this group will do great things within our community, as previous years of NHS members have already proven can be done.
