Response to Intervention

Response to Intervention (RtI) is the practice of providing high-quality instruction and interventions matched to student need, monitoring progress frequently to make decisions about changes in instruction or goals and applying child response data to important educational decisions. RtI should be applied to decisions in general, remedial and special education, creating a well-integrated system of instruction/intervention guided by child outcome data. - Response to Intervention: Policy Considerations and Implementations: NASDSE 2005

District 622 has decided to implement the RtI model. A district RtI core team was created and meet regularly to discuss topics relating to RtI. A national RtI expert Matt Burns from the University of Minnesota gave an overview of RtI to district administration. Webster Elementary was chosen as a pilot school for the 2007-08 school year and will begin receiving training regarding RtI models in the near future.
