Welcome to the MMS 2018 - 2019 school year! This is my 22nd year of teaching science at MMS (I was formerly Mary Erickson). Prior to coming to MMS, I went to college at NDSU in Fargo. I love learning and apparently just can't get enough. :-) I'm looking forward to a great year with lots of hands-on and active learning. Please feel free to contact me at any time!
Seventh Grade Science revolves around mainly the living world (i.e. biology). We start the year exploring the scientific method (not only the steps involved but the keys to making observations, measuring accurately, etc.). Other topics throughout the year include ecology, cells, cellular respiration & photosynthesis, genetics & evolution, classifying living organisms, viruses & bacteria, and, finally, animals & body systems. I post my assignments either right before or right after they are given.
Textbooks can be checked out from Ms. Dvorak anytime they are needed.
Students will all be keeping an Interactive Science Folder. The folder will be kept in class although it can be taken out of class as needed to complete assignments. I will post the folder details as we go along.
7th Grade Science Wish List (always needed for the classroom): Antibacterial wipes, Kleenex, pencils
