Mask and Face Coverings
Face Coverings
The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) and the Minnesota Department of Health (MDH) recommend that people wear a well-fitting mask in some settings and situations to prevent the spread of COVID-19. Other federal, state, or local laws may require masks, and businesses may set their own requirements.
The virus that causes COVID-19 is thought to be mostly spread by respiratory droplets and fine particles released when people breathe, talk, cough, or sneeze. Wearing a well-fitting mask helps prevent the spread of COVID-19.
The MDH Recommendations for Wearing Masks webpage contains recommendations on when to wear a mask and what type of masks offer the best protection.
