Letters of Recommendation
Colleges often ask for two or three recommendation letters from people who know you well. These letters should be written by someone who can describe your skills, accomplishments, and personality.
Letters of recommendation work for you when they present you in the best possibly light, showcasing your skills and abilities. Colleges value recommendation letters because they:
- Reveal things about you grades and test scores cannot
- Provide personal opinions of your character
- Show who is willing to speak on your request
Think about who would write the best letter for you. One letter should be written by an English, Math, Social Studies or Science teacher you have had at Tartan preferably during junior or senior year. Teachers you have had for more than one class are often good choices. Other teachers, employers, coaches and mentors are also great options for a second or third letter.
If you choose to or need a letter of recommendation from your counselor, please complete this form with as much detail as possible.
