Castle Vision
Castle Elementary values the rich diversity of our learners and strives to give each scholar a rigorous academic experience that focuses on individual growth and gives students the tools they need to become independent lifelong learners. We will do this by developing critical thinking and creativity while creating a supportive, loving and inclusive community that collaborates with families to ensure a positive school experience.About Our School
Castle Elementary School is a pre-kindergarten through 5th grade elementary school housing about 450 students from Oakdale, North St. Paul and Maplewood.Castle History
Castle was built in 1969 in Oakdale Village and was named after Henry Anson Castle, the founder of North St. Paul. Mr. Castle once owned the property that the school is built on.The school was built with a non-graded philosophy, which was popular at the time. Rooms were designed with walls that opened into large, common areas, providing academic flexibility. During the 1969-1970 school year, Castle was home to 350 students. The recession in the early 80's caused Castle to close. It was reopened and an addition added in 1988.In 2019 construction started renovating the entire building and adding additional space. The renovations were complete December 2020.
