Frequently Asked Questions:
1. Who is eligible for services?
This program is open to any student with American Indian ancestry who is either one of the following: 1) an enrolled member of a federally recognized tribe or 2) has a parent that is an enrolled member of a federally recognized tribe or 3) has a grandparent that is an enrolled member of a federally recognized tribe or 4) any student with American Indian ancestry who identifies as American Indian and knows their tribal affiliation. At least one of the four listed must apply.
2. How much do services cost?
The American Indian Education program is a federally and state funded program with assistance from the Equity Department in the North St. Paul-Maplewood-Oakdale School District. Program services are available to all American Indian students enrolled in the program free of charge.

4. How do I enroll my children in North St. Paul-Maplewood-Oakdale Indian Education?
To enroll in our program you must fill out a 506 form and send it to our office. To receive a form or for more information contact Becky Buck at (651)748-7559. You may also click on the link above to print the form.
5. Why should I fill out a 506 form for my children?
The Federal Government requires a signed 506 form for each student to be on file in the ISD 622 American Indian Education office.
6. What services are currently available for my children?
The following are free services offered this year:
Advocate for American Indian Students grade Pre-k-12
Assist students in improving academic performance and attendance
Provide information for post secondary planning, financial aid and scholarships
Academic tutoring for students in grades 6-12
Teach culturally relevant materials as an enrichment program for American Indian students
Act as a cultural resource for administrators, teachers and all students
Offer seasonal cultural events/field trips for the entire family
Reading enrichment activities for students and families
Students must be enrolled in the program to participate.
