Parental involvement is directly linked to student success. Research has shown that students with involved parents exhibit more positive attitudes and behaviors toward their education and achieve more. This carries through to their secondary education, resulting in decreased involvement in youth risk behaviors, higher graduation rates, and greater enrollment in post-secondary education.
Please consider the following ways in which you can be an involved parent:
• Attend your child's parent teacher conferences in the fall and spring.
• Communicate with your child's teacher throughout the year with questions, concerns, or compliments.
• Know your child's friends and their parents.
• Support your child in the completion of daily homework and reading assignments.
