Coach Rachel Price danced for 13 years--10 on a competition line--at Jan’s School of Dance in her hometown of Hastings, MN. As a sixth-grader, she performed in the Opening Ceremonies for the Special Olympics and in the Super Bowl XXVI Pre-Game Show, both at the former Metrodome. She began coaching at Lincoln High School in Des Moines, IA in 2003. While there, she organized and coached a dance program for the three local middle schools; was the assistant coach of the Varsity team; and was the Head JV dance coach. Their body of routines consisted of pom, jazz, hip hop, lyrical, and kick. The Lincoln Railettes made appearances at regional, state, and national shows and competitions. In 2005, she received an award for Outstanding Jazz Choreography for the MA Regional Competition in Kansas City, KS.
In 2007, Coach Price moved back to the Twin Cities and began teaching at Tartan. She was the inaugural Fall Pom Team Coach in 2013-14, then became the JV head coach in the 2014-15 winter season. She moved up to Varsity head coach in the fall of 2017, and is very excited to see where the Tartan Dance Team will go in the upcoming years!
Coach Alannah Peters (Evelius) has been coaching the Tartan Dance Team since 2018. She started as the Varsity Assistant Coach, and is now taking on the JV/B-Squad with Coach Tori. Coach Peters has been a dancer her entire life! She started dancing at 3 years old through Stage Door Dance and joined their competition team in 8th grade. While Coach Peters did not dance on her high school's dance team, she WAS on the cheer team, where she got to combine both dance and cheer. She attended Winona State University, where she received a Bachelor's of Teaching in Health and Physical Education. Now Coach Peters gets to do her dream job of teaching high school Health at Tartan AND share her love of dance with our dancers!
Coach Victory (Tori) Cox has been dancing since she was three years old. As a high school freshman and sophomore, Coach Tori danced on the Tartan Dance Team. She then transferred to St. Paul Conservatory for Performing Artists to finish out her high school years studying dance. Shortly after graduation, Coach Tori performed in the selection show at the International Presentation of Performers in Los Angeles, CA. She has also danced in a few commercials for Agency Models and Talent.
Coach Tori grew up taking studio dance lessons at 5 Star Dance Studio and Larkin Dance Studio, and she continues to dance with the Larkin Ladies, a competitive adult line. In 2018, she competed at the Hall of Fame Nationals in Orlando, FL with her fellow Larkin Ladies, where they won 1st place overall for their dance category. Coach Tori joined the TDT coaching staff in 2018 as the B-Squad Coach, and is looking forward to leaping back into the dance team world to make lasting memories with her fellow coaches and team.
Coach Dominique Johnson (DJ) has been dancing since she was 6 years old. She started dancing at a small studio in Paw Paw, MI, and it was there that she fell in love with Hip Hop. She continued her dance training in MN at Larkin Dance Studio. In the spring of her 7th-grade year, Coach DJ tried out for the Tartan Dance Team. She was placed on the very first Tartan JV team, where she was later named the very first JV Captain. This is where her passion for dance team began! By the time winter tryouts came around, she was placed on the Varsity team and danced with the Tartan Varsity for a total of 5 years--the last two of which she was a Varsity Captain. Concluding her senior year, she was named to the 2017 All-State Jazz Dance Team and was very proud to represent Tartan. Coach DJ started coaching TDT in the 2018-19 winter season, and is super excited to give back to the team that made her middle and high school experience even more special!!
Coach Becca Pratts began her dance training at the age of three and went on to dance competitively in the styles of tap, jazz, lyrical, and ballet. Her team was awarded high score top honors and national titles at competitions and conventions across the country--including competing on a nationally televised Showstopper dance competition. One of the highlights of her dance career was performing in the Super Bowl XXVI Halftime Show in Minneapolis. Coach Becca was a four-year member of The College of St. Scholastica's Dance Team in Duluth, MN (two years as captain), and helped to transition the program from a performance team into a competition team. After graduating with a Masters in Physical Therapy, she has continued her dance training in tap, jazz, and hip-hop in an adult competitive dance class. Coach Becca is currently the director of the West St. Paul Just For Kix dance program. She was a high school dance team winter head coach at Tartan for three seasons and is so excited to be continuing to coach the fall team!!
