2023-2024 School Year - August 2023

2023-2024 School Year - August 2023

Dear 622 families,

Welcome to the 23-24 school year! District 622 is excited to open the doors to a renovated North High, watch the progress at Tartan High, and begin renovations at Webster Education Center.

Our student-related policies are listed at the left. Families should review these expectations for student behavior.

To view the entire 622 Student and Family Handbook, visit the Back-to-School webpage. You’ll also find the family calendar, school supply lists, open house information, vaccination clinic information, and more.

Beginning this fall, students can eat free breakfast and lunch, but additional meals, ala carte items, and milk for a bag lunch require payment. We ask that families complete the meal application form because we receive important funding based on the number of forms completed.

We are excited to begin the new school year. As a reminder, our first-days of school are as follows:

  • Tuesday, September 5, for grades 1-6 and 9,
  • Wednesday, September 6, for grades K, 7-8 and 10-12, and
  • Monday, September 11 for Pre-K.

Be sure to watch for additional beginning of the year information for your child’s principal. Thank you for your support of District 622.

District 622 Student Responsibilities Policies

All students have the right to an education, the right to learn, the right to due process under law, and shall be afforded all rights provided under federal and state law. Students also have certain responsibilities that contribute to the quality of their educational experience. The Student Responsibilities Policies cover the expectations for student behavior, how we conduct ourselves in school and how we treat one another. We hope the adults in our students’ lives will instill these same expectations and model the behaviors we expect our students to use. If you have any questions, please visit the district website at isd622.org/about/policies to see the rationale and full policy documents or contact your school administration.

Application for Educational Benefits

All school meals will now be free for all students in Minnesota. This includes breakfast and lunch. If students would like an additional entree, milk for bagged lunches, or anything from the ala carte, they will need to pay. Even though meals are now free for all students, we still encourage our families to complete an Application for Educational Benefits in order to receive reduced fees and discounts. Use the QR code to fill out the ‘Meal Application’ on LINQ Connect.

We receive important funding for student programs based on the number of forms completed, so please fill out the application even if you don’t think you’ll qualify. There are discounts for those who qualify, including reduced fees for athletics and activities, swimming lessons, driver training, and community education courses, in addition to other discounts.
