What is an 80/20 model?
An 80/20 model for dual language immersion means that students start the immersion program with 80% of the instruction in the target language (Hmong, Mandarin, or Spanish) and 20% of the instruction in English. Our dual language immersion program starts in Kindergarten with 80/20 and the percentages of target language/English adjusts each year so that by the time students are in 5th grade, they will engage in 50% target language and 50% English during the instructional time.
