Volunteer
Thank you for your interest in sharing your time, knowledge, and abilities with our students and program participants. Volunteers in our district make a difference. Whether you're a parent, community member, or current student, we offer a variety of ways to get involved in our schools and program sites.
Step 1:
Getting Started
If you're new to volunteering with District 622, please complete the following steps:
Reach out to the volunteer
coordinator listed below which
correlates to the school you
would like to volunteer at. They
will discuss the opportunity with
you in more detail and provide
guidance on what documents
are acceptable.
Document Examples:
● Driver’s license
● Passport
● ID card
Step 2:
Day-Trip Volunteers/Chaperones
As soon as you decide to
volunteer/chaperone, please contact
the volunteer coordinator to schedule
a time to complete a background
check at the school.
Your information will be ran through
the Raptor system on a frequent basis
and or at minimum, once a year.
Overnight Volunteers/Chaperones:
If you are planning to
volunteer/chaperone for an overnight
field trip, please complete the
Volunteer/Chaperone Form. You will
automatically be sent a link to
complete a background check through
our vendor, Trusted Employees. This
background check is valid for one
school year.
Background Checks
District 622 does require a
criminal background check for
volunteer opportunities including
all field trips. This decision is
driven by our commitment to the
safety and well-being of all
students and program
participants. At the same time,
we do not want the background
check process to become a
barrier for volunteers.
A criminal conviction is also not
an absolute bar to
volunteering/chaperoning within
the district.
The district’s Human Resource
Department reviews any and all
convictions on a case-by-case-
basis to determine if the
individual may volunteer.
Information on background
checks is not shared with schools
or programs.
