Tartan Senior High School is a public secondary school located in Oakdale, Minnesota. It is a member of Independent School District 622. Since its opening in 1971, Tartan has grown to more than 1,700 students. The name Tartan draws the similarity between the many colors (communities) in the Scottish garb (school).
Tartan High School serves students in grades 9-12 and is dedicated to helping all students achieve high standards, both in the classroom and beyond.
Tartan operates on a traditional six-period, three-trimester system, allowing students to take 18 (50 minute) classes during the course of the school year.
Students are supported through various programs including Link Crew, which helps 9th graders transition into high school. A school-wide behavior program called The Titan Way reflects pride, respect, and responsibility in each Tartan student.
Tartan High is committed to preparing students for the future by providing a comprehensive curriculum that is designed to challenge the interests and abilities of the diverse student body.
College credit is offered for full or part-time college attendance under the Minnesota Post-Secondary Enrollment Options program and through the College in the Schools program. In addition, Tartan offers a number of Advanced Placement classes.
Tartan High School offers students the chance to get involved beyond the classroom and to explore different after-school activities. Tartan offers 32 co-curricular activities and 29 interscholastic athletics. Approximately 1,800 students participate in co-curricular activities.
