About Our School
Tartan Senior High School
We are a public secondary high school located in Oakdale, Minnesota. We are a member of Independent School District 622. In 2018, Tartan High School was ranked in the top 5% of Minnesota High School by the US News and World Report and our graduation rate remains above the state average.
The name Tartan draws the similarity between the many colors (communities) in the Scottish garb (school). Each year, Tartan High School serves over 1,700 students in grades 9-12 and is dedicated to helping all students achieve high standards, both in the classroom and beyond. We operate on a traditional six-period, three-trimester system, allowing students to take 18 (50 minutes) classes during the course of the school year.
Students are supported through various programs including Link Crew, which helps 9th graders transition into high school. A school-wide behavior program called The Titan Way reflects pride, respect, and responsibility in each Tartan student.
Tartan High is committed to preparing students for the future by providing a comprehensive curriculum that is designed to challenge the interests and abilities of the diverse student body. College credit is offered for full or part-time college attendance under the Minnesota Post-Secondary Enrollment Options program and through the College in the Schools program. In addition, over 450 Tartan students are currently enrolled in at least one Advanced Placement course.
Tartan High School offers students the chance to get involved beyond the classroom and to explore different after-school activities. Tartan offers 32 co-curricular activities and 29 interscholastic athletics.
