Hi, my name is Zach Steigauf. I teach 5th grade here at Castle!
A little bit about me:
I grew up in Minnesota and graduated from Chisago Lakes High School in 2003. I joined the army shortly after high school and served for just under five years. I traveled for a short time after my enlistment, visiting quite a few states in the US as well as five countries bordering the Mediterranean Sea. Over the next five years, I worked to earn my BS and MEd (Master's in Education) in K-6 elementary education. I student taught at Lino Lakes Elementary for one year before coming to Castle! The 19' - 20' school year is my fifth year of teaching here at Castle Elementary!
When I am not teaching I like to spend time with girlfriend Anna and our dogs Boomer and Cheese! Many of my favorite activities are outdoor activities like camping, kayaking, and ice skating in the winter. I enjoy some indoor activities too. My favorite indoor activities involve a variety of woodworking and refurbishing projects. I also love to just sit with good company, while having conversations about society, human behavior, and education!
As I was working on one of many end tables that I refurbished this summer, and I though to myself, there is a lot of beauty hiding under the surface here. I relate this to my teaching in that there is so much beauty and greatness inside the minds of each of my students. I am so fortunate to take part in the process of growing and discovering the greatness in each of my students!
