    Dear Richardson Parents and Guardians,

I am humbled and honored to introduce myself as the new principal of Richardson Elementary and I’m looking forward to joining this amazing school community. I know it can be difficult to have a new administrator to work with – please know that I will do everything I can to help ease the transition.

It is important that we get to know each other, so let me tell you a little about myself and my experience that has brought me to Richardson. I have a great family: a husband and three grown children. We are lucky our kids live close, so we are blessed to spend time together frequently. Much of my career has been in early learning, preschool through grade 3, in a variety of settings and managing several early literacy grants. I was in Saint Paul Public Schools for 15 years, 10 of those years I was at the District Level in the Office of Early Learning. For the last 5 years, I served as principal at an elementary school on the east side of St. Paul. I believe strongly in the power of relationships and collaboration. I have many years in education, nearly 30, and consider myself a lifelong learner. I’m eager to learn about you and your hopes and dreams for Richardson that together we will work to make a reality.

This year I plan to spend much of my time listening to and learning from you so I can get to know families and students and familiarize myself with the unique culture you all have built. I plan to schedule meetings to find out what you love about Richardson, what opportunities there are for changes at Richardson, and what you need from me as an administrator so you feel like you and your child(ren) are best supported. I am passionate about student learning and believe that successful school communities are built on positive relationships – among staff, with students, with their families, and with the greater school community. I also have high academic and behavioral expectations for students and will work in partnership with staff, students, and families to help each child at Richardson have a successful school experience.

Please do not hesitate to contact me at 651-748-6910 or by email at lgruenewald@isd622.org. I look forward to working with you and to a great school year!

    In partnership,

    Lisa Gruenewald (Ms. G.)
