• About Me

Welcome to 622 Online, our district's newest option for a student’s choice of school!

My name is Sean Cotherman, and I am thrilled to be leading 622’s online schooling option for students in grades K-12. I have an extensive background in online learning, and bring this expertise to the district, supporting the planning and creation of 622’s program since its beginning as a few courses available online at our High Schools in 2019  to a comprehensive and supplemental option for student’s within our district boundaries and throughout greater Minnesota for the 21-22 school year.

I joined 622 in 2019 from the state's largest online charter school, Minnesota Connections Academy (MNCA). I served MNCA in a variety of roles, beginning in 2011 as the Middle School Assistant Principal. In 2013 I transitioned to the High School Principal position and supported MNCA in that capacity till 2017 when I became the Assistant Director of Special Education. I am delighted to bring the knowledge and experience I gained during my time at MNCA to 622, leading the fantastic group of teachers and staff that join me in this new adventure to give the students and families of 622 and beyond a new option to choose their own path to learning.

Outside of the leadership roles I have held, I began my career in education as an Elementary Music Teacher in Cleveland, Ohio, and have also taught Middle School Choir & General Music in Edina, Minnesota. I received my Bachelor's degree in Music Education and Vocal Performance from Bowling Green State University in Ohio, and have a Master of Arts degree from Concordia University-Saint Paul and a Master of Education from the University of Minnesota. Currently, I am a PhD student at the U of M in Educational Leadership and Policy Development, hoping to finish within the next year.

Registration is now open for 622 Online. I can’t wait to work with the students and families that make online learning their choice for this fall. I am a firm believer that online learning can open the door to a more personalized and flexible learning option for students seeking something different than the traditional educational setting through the collaboration and partnership 622 Online teachers and staff establish with the student and their families. We look forward to meeting you and hearing more about you!
