Welcome Back!
I am so excited for school to start again each fall. I love teaching fourth grade and am excited to get to know you and your student as the year progresses.
I grew up here in Minnesota and attended Hamline University for my undergraduate work. Shortly after college I moved to Chicago for a short 2-year stint and then to Phoenix for 7 years to take advantage of the warm weather.
While in Arizona I taught in a Montessori School with combined age group classrooms. I taught 4th-5thgrade for my first 4 years there. I also taught a year of 7thand 8thgrade and a year of k-1stgrade. I also taught 3 years of special education and spent time as an administrator.
Also while in Arizona, I earned a Masters degree in Special Education and a Masters degree in Curriculum and Instruction. I spent time as a member of the PTG and coordinated many school wide events (including Thanksgiving dinner for over 400 people).
I moved back to Minnesota to be closer to my family. I worked as a reading teacher and curriculum coordinator at an all Hmong school for 3 years. I started in district 622 as a reading specialist at Eagle Point and then at Cowern. I have been a classroom teacher at Cowern since the fall of 2012. I love the sense of community that people feel the minute they walk through our doors!
