Hello, my name is Lisa Torgerson. I am one of the 3rd-grade teachers here at Cowern. I love teaching here and all the connections that I have made with students and parents. I really try to get to know my students and their interests. I have a flexible seating classroom. This type of classroom is not a traditional classroom. What does that mean? My students are allowed to move to different spots around my room, picking a spot that works best for them to learn. This year my focus will be on good humans and positive learning mindsets.
I have been teaching in the district for the last 24 years. Besides being a teacher here in District 622, I am also a graduate of the district. I went to Richardson Elementary, John Glenn Middle School and North High School! It has been an amazing journey working within the district. Previously, I have had the opportunity to work with many of my childhood elementary teachers. It has been a pleasure to learn from them as well. During my 24 years here, I have been a special education teacher, as well as working in grades 3, 4, and a split 3/4 and 4/5.
I believe that all students can learn, it depends on their learning style. It is my job to find that learning style. Also, we are partners in your child's education. I make every effort to connect with you and develop a positive relationship. I am so excited to have the opportunity to work with you and your child. I am looking forward to a terrific school year!
