    Department / Grade:1st Grade
Hi and welcome to first grade!  If you're in my class this year, get ready to have fun learning!  I can't wait to get to know you and your family!  Here's a little bit about me:  I've been teaching since 1996.  I've taught preschool, 2nd grade, and 1st grade.  I've been here at Oakdale Elementary since 1997.  I did take some time off when each of my 2 kids were born.  We also have a "jack-a-poo" (Jack Russell and Poodle) named Biscuit and a bearded dragon named Spike.  We love camping, biking, and going on adventures in nature together!

I love teaching because I get to empower kids to be intelligent thinkers and problem solvers to be successful in everyday life, for the rest of their life.  I love teaching kids how fun and amazing learning can be and to crave more!  I love teaching them how what you learn in one situation can be used and applied in hundreds of other situations. So  in other words;  I LOVE TEACHING!

I also strongly believe in and push hard for mutual respect and responsibility for all and from all.  Even in first grade, I find that kids can be responsible for a lot more than we think they can be.  With you (the parents) supporting success and promoting a positive attitude at home, I know that together we can give your child the best that first grade has to offer!

    Here’s to a great year!
