    Department / Grade: 5th Grade

Welcome to 5th grade!  I’m excited to be your child’s teacher as I start my 25th year of teaching.  My first 12 years were in St. Paul at Cherokee Heights Elementary where I taught 5th grade and was a technology teacher.  I have been teaching in District 622 for the last 12 years.  I was at Castle Elementary for seven of those years and then came to Oakdale.

Teaching at Oakdale is a bit of a homecoming for me.  When I look out my window, I can see the house I lived in when I was born.  My two older brothers actually attended Oakdale Elementary many years ago.  My family moved to Brainerd before I had the chance to attend school here.  I attended college at Mankato State University and graduated with degrees in Athletic Training and Physical Education.  I received my Elementary Classroom license while at the University of St. Thomas.

I currently live in Oakdale with my wife, Jodi and my two children, Amanda and Ryan.  Both kids are at University of Wisconsin - Eau Claire where Amanda is a senior and Ryan is a freshman.  We also have 2 little white dogs named Lily and Lucy.

I'm excited to teach 5th grade again, even though I've taught 2nd grade for the last 6 years.  I want your child's last year in elementary school to be a memorable one.  Please contact me if you have any questions or concerns about your child’s progress in fifth grade!
