A message from Jed Helwig, Activities Director North High School
Per the Governor's executive order detailed (March 25th) our North spring sports have been suspended until May 4th. We will continue to follow the parameters provided by the Governor and the Minnesota State High School League.
Although we expected an extended shutdown, May 4 certainly feels like a long way away. I empathize with you, your teammates and coaches, your friends and your families.
Character and community are the pillars of our activities programs. We will stay together, and stay connected. We also have a great work ethic and integrity. It is who we already are, and will continue to be. Please take care of yourselves and your families during this time.
School district staff have been diligently working to create distance learning plans for all our students. This includes our spring coaches at all levels. Starting Monday, March 30, we will begin to implement a variety of online connection points with student-athletes. Plans include various optional activities that can be done in isolation, videos from staff that are both fun and with purpose, and delivery of character development lessons.
Please follow the direction of your spring coach, to know exactly how you will receive ongoing communication for your activity or sport. If you have questions, contact your head coach directly. Email contact information for coaches is located on our Athletic/Activities website. On behalf of our coaches, we want you to know:
- We care for you and are here for each of you, just in a different way. Our coaches and activities department will continue to connect with and support each of you.
- We ask you to follow all health guidelines about staying at home, social distancing, and hygiene to stay safe and stay healthy.
- Even in this incredibly uncertain time, we remain grateful for the relationships we have with all of you, and the positive impact we make on each other.
- In Activities, there are many significant lessons to be learned. We will continue to learn together about character, community, grit, strength, empathy, and dealing with adversity; lessons that will pave the way to a better future.
As we rally together and support each other, I am reminded that North and the North community is simply a great place to be. GO POLARS!
No contact - in effect until March 27
Effective 3/15: No spring sports practices, training, or contact of any kind may be held through 3/27. This means NO CONTACT. There can be NO meetings, wt-room sessions, film sessions, etc. Future updates will be sent as needed based on state, MSHSL, and ISD 622.
Welcome to North High AthleticsPolar Family,
