District Facilities Plan - Phase I

At the February 27, 2018, School Board meeting, the school board passed a resolution to move forward with Phase 1 of the District 622 Facilities Master Plan, which will ultimately guide the renovation of all 622 buildings over time.

Phase I includes plans to remodel Castle and Richardson Elementary Schools.  This decision aligns with current enrollment planning. Richardson borders two neighboring school districts as well as our own Weaver Elementary, which is experiencing significant overcrowding. Our goal is to refresh the Richardson building as we look to increase retention of our 622 students while drawing new enrollment to that school.

Facilities updates are a viable option because 622 is currently on track to pay off previous facilities debt in the near future. With this debt forecast, we hope to eventually remodel all 622 buildings, ideally without seeking a tax increase.
