Welcome! I am Skyview's High Potential and Young Scholars Coordinator. I also serve as the AVID Site Coordinator helping Skyview to attain National Demonstration Status this year. I coach the Knowledge Bowl teams and advise Junior Honor Society.
Education is my second career. My bachelor's degree was in journalism, and I worked for a few years as a newspaper reporter, with a short stint as a radio news broadcaster. I went back to school for my master's in Curriculum and Instruction/Literacy at the University of Colorado, Boulder, and began teaching Language Arts and gifted classes in Colorado in 1990. I have worked in District 622 since moving to Minnesota 15 years ago. I am also an adjunct professor in the education department at Hamline University.
I have two children - a grown daughter and son. My husband is orchestra director at Park High School in South Washington School District. I enjoy photography, playing violin, traveling, and hiking with my German Shepherd Dog, Dessa.
Contact me if you are interested in more information about the middle school High Potential and Young Scholars Programs or with questions about our AVID System at Skyview. I also lead educational tours for students and families. Let me know if you are interested in travel!
