Fall Planning Update

Dear 622 Families,

Yesterday, the Minnesota Department of Education (MDE) and Minnesota Department of Health (MDH) released guidance to schools as preparations continue for the 2020-2021 school year.

At this time, all districts will be planning for the following three scenarios for the beginning of the upcoming school year.

  • Scenario 1: In-person learning for all students
    • Students and teachers should minimize close contact and follow all other required and recommended MDH guidelines.
  • Scenario 2: Hybrid learning with strict social distancing and capacity limits
    • Students and teachers should maintain six feet of social distancing and follow all other required and recommended MDH guidelines.
  • Scenario 3: Distance learning only
    • Students and teachers will continue to be engaged daily in teaching and learning.  Prioritize continuing to provide critical services such as food services to support the health and safety of students.  Provide guidance to teachers regarding delivery of distance learning and expectations during distance learning.

As a reminder, school begins in District 622 on the following dates:

  • Monday, August 31, for students in Grades 1-12
  • Monday, August 31, for Adult Basic Education
  • Tuesday, September 1, for Kindergarten
  • Tuesday, September 8, for Preschool

MDE indicated that they will issue guidance to school districts no later than the week of July 27, 2020, as to which option will begin the school year.

In addition, MDE is currently collecting survey information from all families as it relates to distance learning last school year. Please visit this link to take the survey

We will continue to update families via email, social media, and our website as more information becomes available.
