March 25, 2020

Dear 622 Secondary Families,

In this time of change and uncertainty, our top priority is to continue your student's education, even while they are away from school due to COVID-19 (Coronavirus). We also care about the health and well-being of our families.

As we embark on distance learning in ISD 622, we would like to share a few general expectations for instruction and communication during our initial rollout of distance learning. Distance learning means that students will learn at home, have access to educational materials, and have daily interaction with their teachers.  We recommend creating a daily routine for learning with your student. Whatever your routine, we are here to support student learning.

Distance Learning Resources:

  • Weekly plans for each class will be posted by 9:00 AM on Mondays. Updated daily tasks, lessons, and activities will also be posted by 9:00 AM.
  • Distance Learning for secondary students will be primarily self-directed, independent learning.
  • Information on assessments and grading will be coming soon.

  • Online Office Hours:
    • Teachers will have office hours/availability Monday through Friday via Schoology or email from 9:00 AM until 12:00 PM. During this time, teachers will be actively interacting with students and responding to their questions. Teacher response may not be immediate if there is a high volume of requests during this time frame.
    • If students are unable to reach teachers during scheduled office hours, teachers will be available by appointment.
  • Staff will contact students (and families) who have not interacted on Schoology during the week.
  • Teachers will respond to student/parent/guardian requests, messages, and questions within 24 hours of contact Monday-Friday.

Technology/Implementation support:

  • Technology and implementation feedback from families and students can be requested using the following link: Student Tech Support Ticket

We want this to be as positive an experience as possible. Do not hesitate to reach out to your student’s teacher if you have any questions or concerns. We are in this together. Please look for more emails regarding distance learning initial rollout coming soon.
