Becoming a Volunteer

Volunteer Application: Prospective volunteers and groups are required to complete an application before the start date of their volunteer service. The application process provides the district with important contact information and gives you an opportunity to let us know your interests. You only need to complete one application but can express interest in serving in different sites. Volunteers do not need to reapply each school year but will be asked to update their profile each year.

Individual Volunteers: Apply online or download an individual volunteer application.

Groups: Apply online or download a group volunteer application.

Paper volunteer application forms are also available at the reception area of each elementary and middle school building, the Community Education Department (2nd floor) at the District Education Center and Gladstone Community Center.

Volunteer Handbook: Volunteers are provided with a handbook prior to their service. Volunteers are required to read the handbook prior to submitting their application.

Reference checks: Reference checks are completed for any volunteer that does not have a district connection (parent, grandparent, staff member, alumni, etc.).

Background checks: Background checks are required for some volunteer assignments. If the assignment you are interested in requires a background check, and you are placed in that volunteer assignment, you will be sent a link to complete a background check authorization form at that time. The cost of the background check will be covered by School District 622. There are many volunteer opportunities that do not require background checks.
